i-Make/u-Buy Exhibit

23 Feb

I do alot of runway shows and quite a few fashion photoshoots.  I don’t get to do a lot of art gallery shows, so I’m happy to say that I’m doing one this month!  I was invited to participate in an art exhibit at the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.  It’s called “i-Make/u-Buy: Textiles in the Electronic Retail Age” and it will feature artists/designers who use textiles in their art, clothing, or accessories and also sell them online.

Here’s the gallery website for info: http://textilegallery.unl.edu/

In correlation with the gallery show, UNL has planned a series of panels of artists to share and discuss their work, their business, their advice.  All free of cost and all open to the public.  Sweet!  Free advice!

UNL is where I studied Textile & Apparel Design, so it’s cool to be able to show my work in the gallery space.  If you are in or near Lincoln, definitely go check it out.  I will have two complete looks in the show.

My friend, Mary Pattavina from PrettyGoodThings, is showing a series of her handmade hats in the “i-Make/u-Buy” exhibit.  Her work is way super awesome.  Also, a plushies artist from Omaha, Amy Morin Quinn from Plaiderpillar, is part of this show.  She makes GIANT rabbits, tiny birds and all sorts of things in between.  I’m pumped to show alongside these two designers.  I admire their work quite a bit.
