“31 Days…” Day 14: 90’s Craft Show Enthusiast

14 Oct

Today I dressed up as a “90’s Craft Show Enthusiast” for my “31 Days of Halloween” costume challenge.

Day 14: 90’s Craft Show Enthusiast

I have that glossy-eyed look of someone who’s been shopping all day for craft items from crafters in the community.  I’m proudly showing off my find: a raffia/ribbon/jingle bell masterpiece. (Which was actually created by yours truly just for this costume.  Check out my CRAFTING SKILLS, guys!)

90’s Craft Show Enthusiast details: turtleneck, seasonal embroidery, jumper, sensible shoes, 90’s frames, handmade earrings, doily hat, CRAFT ITEM (mine is a raffia braid…can’t go wrong with raffia).

I did not attend a craft show in this costume, but I DID go to a craft store while wearing it.  A lot of the customers weren’t digging my costume, but whatever.  I know I achieved the look I was going for because one of the 50-ish year old craft store workers expressed how much she loved my outfit. Score for me.

My partner met me out at the craft/fabric store to help me pick out some fabric for our home.  I texted him a warning that I was in costume and to look for the 1990’s craft lady, but I don’t know if he was prepared for the authenticity of my costume. He just looked at me and said, “Wow. You look ridiculous.” And then after shaking his head and giggling for awhile he said, “Really, the worst part about your costume is that it kinda, you know, FITS you….”

Dang.  Although….proof I can probably pull off any look.

Awesome! We need a close up of that wonderful apron! Or is it a crocheted skirt???

It’s a crocheted apron. I’m not sure who made it, since I’m just borrowing it for the day. It’s cute, though.
