Studio Cat

28 Apr

My partner is a cat person to the extreme. HE LOVES CATS.  I think cats are cool, but I hate cat hair so much  it keeps me from being a true cat person.  I have an extensive fabric stash and a sewing studio in my house, so having cat hair around just is never an option.  Until recently, my partner worked at an animal shelter and he would fall in love with  a new cat almost daily.  We came to the agreement that we could adopt a cat, but only if it was hairless.

He worked there for years, but finally a hairless cat was surrendered to the shelter.  A kitty cat!  No cat hair!  I can have my cake and eat it too!

Introducing Luna, my studio cat

Her name is Luna.  She’s a Sphynx cat.  We’ve had her for about two months and she’s definitely settled into studio cat life.  She likes to perch on top of the EXACT pattern piece I need and bat all of my tools off the table.  Regular obnoxious cat things, I guess.

She keeps a close eye on my while I work.

I’m finding it to be distracting to have a studio cat sometimes.  Luna likes to play.  Any stringlike object is instantly a cat toy to her.

Luna playing with some jersey tubing fringe I was making for a scarf.

She sure is cute though.  We’ve had her long enough for me to think cats with fur are RIDICULOUS looking.  I’m used to seeing a naked cat everyday, so furry cats are the weird ones.

Playing tug with a scrap of pattern paper.

She was meant for you. Seems like she is right at home. I have considered a hairless cat since we have allergies over here and the same, my studio is within my home. Do you make any fancy little sweaters for her?

I haven’t made her any sweaters, but she already has a whole wardrobe. We have quite the pet sweater collection here. My sweetie wants us to make her a furry cat costume for Halloween, though. A hairless cat dressed like a furry cat? Hilarious.
